Master Bedroom Redo

The Master Bedroom Redo Is Complete! Time for the Reveal!

Kayd Roy26 Comments
At last!  It is time to reveal our Master Bedroom 'afters'Are you ready?!?
Of course you are!  Here we go...
Well, what do you think? It has been a long road getting this finished up, so let's do a quick review of the DIY's that got us here.

We kicked off this project back in January when we finally chose a paint color and painted the room.  It felt so great to get rid of that green!
I sewed up our own  window treatments (which I've added a lining to)...
Then updated a few thing we already owned with some spray paint to get that antique look...
Added in some artwork that captured our imagination (Georges Melies anyone?)...
And sewed up a few decorative accents with my thrift store fabric finds.
But the biggest to-do by far for our bedroom was Alex's DIY door turned headboard...
Man, oh man, I still can't get over how great that turned out!!!

We also changed out the feet on our Ektorp chair and ottoman in order to class it up a bit or again "un-Ikea-fy" it (we haven't shared that tutorial yet, but will later this week).
PS- that's the Magic Carpet I mentioned in my Friday post!

Phew, it has been a long road but I am so happy we now have a space that feels like ours and reflects our style as a couple (that part wasn't easy!).

Now, I am pooped.... time for bed!!!
Hmmm, that grown-up looking bedroom feels sooooo good!

What do you think of our Master Bedroom Redo?
Are you digging it?
Is it what you thought it might be?  Or totally different?

A Semi-Exciting Purchase for the Master Bedroom

Kayd Roy9 Comments
As you might know from the last post about the Master Bedroom, I have been sort of driving myself nuts over finishing up the decor, but good news!  Thanks to fate Ikea's crappy return policy we have new bedding for our Master bedroom!  Drumroll please....

Linblomma Duvet Cover and Shams- $79.99
There it is!  LOL, that was anti-climactic right?

Yep, a new set of white bedding which is pretty much what I planned on.  I purchased this duvet cover on a random trip to Ikea because I liked the fun little knots on the closure, just a neat little detail I hadn't seen before and it adds some interest to a plain white duvet cover.
I figured I could take it home, make sure I like it, make sure Alex likes it, and if it didn't work out I would return it.....  Well, after much debate I got a little nervous about the fabric (linen isn't known for being very easy care) and thought it might be smarter to pick something else out.  Sadly, the big blue home furnishing giant refused to take it back... which sort of made me annoyed with their return logo thingy, I feel like it should say this instead so everyone reads the fine print on their return policy....
After seeing that you'd read the fine print right?!?!  Anyway, yes my bad, should have read the policy and I get that it would be gross for people to return used bedding... really gross.  But knowing I opened the package only to see how the white sham looked with the color of white we painted our headboard, I thought returning it was harmless.  Ugh, oh well.

In the end, I am just looking at it as maybe a blessing since I have been stressing about the finishing touches (aka decorative textiles & accents) for our bedroom.  So, thank you Ikea for locking me into that selection... and really, the whites are close enough :)  I just hope that 100% linen duvet cover + shams don't become a wrinkled up, creased mess when I take it out of the dryer... then I might really fight for a return- who the hell has time to iron all of their bedding?  Or who wants to?

Wish me luck on these last few to-do's for our Master Bedroom Redo:
Throw Blanket
Bedside Lighting
Two Decorative Pillows
Three Frames Above the Headboard
Accent Rug

Sounds so easy right?  I guess not for me and my craziness-ness :)

Our Salvaged Door Turned DIY Headboard

Kayd Roy11 Comments
At last.... It has been built! Our Master Bedroom Redo continues on!
Yes, after letting the salvaged door I picked up sit around for a total of two months we can finally say that it is no longer a door- It's a headboard baby, yea!!!
You saw that coming right?  Sorry I couldn't help myself :)

We decided that the 5-panel door needed some style added to it before we mounted it as a headboard.  After an hour long (no joke, an HOUR long) debate in Home Depot over the type of trim to add, we came to a final decision! Here's how we spruced up our headboard creation using 3 pieces of decorative trim along with the framing....

Alex started by framing in the top (when door is rotated for the headboard), then the left and right sides using cut 2x3's.  Then he countersunk and pre-drilled pilot holes in order to use wood screws to attach the framing to the door.
Next, he cut a piece of crown moulding to attach along the top of the door (headboard) and added decorative endcaps at end side.
The last step was adding a 1x6 piece of select pine across the top.  The pine, crown moulding, and endcaps were attached using Loctite powergrab and finishing nails.
This is how the door headboard should look once you are done building.  After that it's ready for the final refinishing steps.
We did some sanding, added wood filler where needed, and added a fresh coat of paint.

We anxiously waited for it to dry and when it finally did, we happily attached it to our bed frame!   A lot of oooh-ing and awww-ing followed :)

I'm loving how the headboard is shaping up.  I think it now has a similar look to Pottery Barn's Addison Headboard which retails for $499.00-$599.00.
Our creation has cost us about $100 total including the door, framing wood, and decorative trims!  So much better than spending "1 billion, gagillion, fafillion, shabolubalu million illion yillion dollars at Pottery Barn... right Mr. Bigglesworth Pigglesworth?"
Hmmm, too far?  Rocco (aka Piggy) would be offended I am sure :)

What do you think of our headboard creation so far?

See you tomorrow for a very happy edition of Head Over Heels Friday!
PS- I have no idea why I had Austin Powers stuck in my head today.  It's as strange to me as you probably think it is! Ha!

Master Bedroom Update: Headboard & Layout Changes

Kayd Roy4 Comments
Our Master Bedroom redo has been on hold since I left for my overseas trip, so it has been more than a month since we have done anything with the space... sad.  Alex and I really need a kick in the a$# to get this whole sha-bang done. But we're working on it!

The next thing to tackle was turning that salvaged door into a headboard for our bed.  Thankfully the door was in pretty good shape...
But of course it still required a little bit of sanding to smooth out the surface...
... and a nice fresh coat of paint!
After the paint dried, Alex and I wanted to get an idea of how the door would look once added in as a headboard.  Not too bad right?  Really looks like it is just a headboard for the most part.  Alex also wanted to determine how high it should sit behind our mattress before he started to build the actual frame for it.
The other big change in the room is how the furniture is going to be set up.
Our bed has always been where it sits in this "before" picture.  Even the previous home owner had their bed there, so we thought it wouldn't fit anywhere else in the room since the space is so long and narrow.  But...
Turns out that it fits just fine elsewhere in the room, and that little change make the whole room look and feel different!!!  Here is a little sneak peek :)
I am still figuring out the little pieces of decor for the room so I can't give away the final look yet!
Plus Mr. Hammers and High Heels still needs to make that headboard frame for me us.

For now I can't lie to you, my parents are coming to Minnesota for an Easter weekend visit with us so we won't be tackling anything with our bedroom.  So, we'll be dragging this project out a little longer.... Boo-hoo, I know, but we're excited to have family here for a visit!  Shout out to my stepdad John- this will be his second visit in the 5 years I lived in Minnesota, haha!  Maybe that will make him visit more now?!?!

**********************
I am sure we will have some fun Easter weekend stories to share- we're supposed to go to the gun range on Saturday.  Yep, the gun range.  Not sure if I'm excited about that, but I am trying to tap into my inner Angel- which means a cute outfit and feathered hair for the occasion :)  Hmmm, anyway it should be a real hoot!

See ya tomorrow for Head Over Heels time!

The Young Swedes Get an Old American Makeover

Kayd Roy2 Comments
Just in case you're confused, we're talking about our Ikea Dresser & Nightstand getting a new look :) Little by little, we are getting through all those little to-do's for our Master Bedroom.  Each small touch will help pull the room's look together and this simple update certainly helped!

Remember those antique cabinet knobs I picked up at Guilded Salvage? Well they certainly did the trick to sort of "un-Ikea-fy" our Ikea Hemnes Nightstand and Dresser.  We wanted them to both look a bit more ornate/ glamorous, sort of this kind of feel versus standard Ikea...
Here is a look before changing out the hardware on the nightstand.
And here is how it is looking now...
A touch more glamorous right?  That photo makes me really want to ditch those nightstand lamps though, totally not working with the new hardware.  Here is a closer detailed shot of the knob, just has a little circle pattern to it.
Now to the dresser.  Again the 'before'...
And now, just feels a bit more special.
As I mentioned in that last post, I had to dig through a bin of random antique knobs in hopes of finding 14 that were the exact same.  Sadly, the most I could get was 12, but that worked for the dresser.  So that is why the nightstand had different knobs (but still the same finish).  Here is a closer detailed look at the knobs I put on the dresser.  They have just a touch of distressing on the metal surface, just the perfect bit of patina to make it special!
Additionally since we are talking gold finishes & accents for our room, I am thinking of adding in that oval antique framed mirror I picked up at a thrift store for $7.00.  It would be perfect right?
I also picked up some dark camel/ gold and navy velvet pillow covers!  They are looking good with our curtain fabric!
It's coming together!
We still have a lot to do, but so far everything is working out according to our Master plan....
So, I know that was just a little step but are you liking the old world touch on the 'Young Swedes'?

See you later this week!

"G"...What a Lovely (and Mysterious) Vintage Trunk

Kayd Roy3 Comments
As promised, here are some photos of the trunk we picked up at Hunt and Gather during our Valentine's Day adventure.
Everything about it was perfect for the color scheme we are going with for our Master Bedroom redo.  I loved every little detail including...
... the brown canvas (perfect with Behr's Bitter Chocolate), the gold dowels & lock, black metal edge clamps, and hardwood slats.
An extra little fun detail was this monogrammed "G." on each side of the trunk.  Too bad it wasn't a "Z." but the random letter is still pretty fun, makes me wonder what story this old trunk has.
Here is a look inside, it has some kind of garment holder/ organizer.  Not sure if it originally came with the trunk?
If it did, my only clue as to where the trunk came from is this label on the garment holder that says "Thiss Luggage, Leather Goods, Minneapolis"
I tried searching the name and nothing came up. I also looked through old photos in the Hennepin Country Library's Online Special Collections Database and again, no luck.

So, the trunk's history is a mystery, but I am excited that we have a unique decor addition for our Master Bedroom redo

Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend.  We are having a very warm February day here in Minneapolis, so Alex and I are going to grab a coffee, walk along St. Anthony Main, and enjoy the sunshine!  I'll be posting some more Master Bedroom updates soon!

Window Treatments for the Master Bedroom (Plus Sewing Steps)!

Kayd Roy10 Comments
Another Master Bedroom redo to-do conquered!

After hitting my salvage stops this past weekend, I was also able to tackle sewing our window panels with the fabric I picked up at S.R. Harris.  Here's a look at one of the windows....
I know the photo is a bit dark, I still need to learn how to shoot indoors facing a light source (if you have tips please pass along!).  The panels turned out exactly as I had planned, but I have to admit I have a regret with this sewing project.  After we got them hung along the curtain rod I took one look and thought the same thing that I bet some of you are thinking.... "Should have used a drapery lining fabric, ugghhhhh!!!!"

Currently, all we have for window treatments are those crummy white plastic blinds and I am dying to totally get rid of them.  We might replace them with some other kind of shade to block light and provide privacy.  But ideally, I'd want those curtain panels to block more light in addition to a shade (you know, for sleeping in on the weekends of course). Yep, it totally stinks and I probably have to bust out my seam ripper and add in a drapery lining, booo!

In the meantime, I did take pictures while I was sewing the curtain panels so I could share the project here on the blog.  Here are the DIY sewing steps for making some basic window panels, enjoy!

First, take your measurements and cut the fabric to size (include an extra 5 inches or so if you are going to put the panel on a curtain rod). Then, lay out your fabric out for ironing and pinning.
I did a 0.5" double turned hem on all sides of the fabric.  Basically you fold all the edges in a half inch, iron them so you have a nice crease, then fold those folded edges another half inch, iron again and pin the double turned hem you just created in place.
Here is a closer look at my hem pinned up and ready for sewing.  Make sure to fold the side hems in first and the bottom hem last.
Now for the rod pocket, fold the top part of the fabric down, iron and pin in place for sewing.
Note: I like to do all of my ironing and pinning in one big step, so if you do the same make sure you don't sew your rod pocket shut!  I sew all the hemmed edges in one step, starting at the bottom of the rod pocket and ending at the rod pocket on the other side.  Then I sew each rod pocket hem separately.

Here is a closer look at the rod pocket fold.  You can see that I pinned all the hemmed edges in place, then folded down the pocket.
After folding it down I removed the pins out and placed them back in the same spot but this time, on the outside fabric.

Then you are all done with ironing and pinning, time to hop on your sewing machine and make some window panels!

***********

While I got busy sewing, Alex took on the task of installing the drapery rods.  I picked up these rods at Marshalls for only $16.99!  Their "Compare at $30.00" sticker was totally right, everywhere else I went the decent oil rubbed bronze rods were $30 to $50.  I am pretty happy with that under $20 per window price :)
Alex successfully installed the rods and we hung up the curtains!
Like I said, I still think I need to add a drapery liner and once I get to that task I will make sure to show you how I went about doing it (and hopefully I won't destroy the curtains in the process).
Regardless of the liner issue, Alex and I are very pleased with the look of the curtains in our room. But, it is also the first time we have added curtains in our bedroom, so of course it looks amazing to us :)

What do you think?  Do we need the liner?

Hope the sewing steps are helpful too!

Salvage Scores for the Master Bedroom!

Kayd Roy4 Comments
What a weekend!  I'm happy to report that I got a lot of rest Friday night and was able to get some necessary shopping and other to-do's finished for the Master Bedroom Project.  The highlight was going out to a couple of my favorite local salvage stores where I found exactly what we needed!  Luck was totally on my side thankfully!

My first stop was Bauer Brothers Salvage
Even though we discovered the original door in our basement was too rotted/ brittle to use for our headboard idea, I knew I still had my heart set on that look (and most of you agreed with that too!).  I knew I wouldn't have a problem finding one at Bauer Brothers, and boy I was totally right...
After sifting through a sea of salvaged doors, I started finding my way according to type of door.  They had just about every style you can imagine.  The old door in our basement (along with all of the doors in our house) is a single panel style.  I was going to get the exact same thing, but I ended up falling in love with this horizontal five panel style door.  I thought once it is flipped on it's side it would make a perfect and more formal looking headboard.
I was able to bargain a little with them and got the door for only $40! I was happy with that considering we sold our other bedframe for $90, so still under budget! With that, I mentioned in our last post how we had our mattress + boxspring "chilling on the floor" after we were able to sell our metal bedframe.  My good friend Betsy immediately emailed me and offered up a brand new in the box metal frame (holds the boxspring under the bed).
Alex and I actually had that type of frame from when we bought our mattress set, but got rid of it when we got that other bedframe (stupid!). I thought we would have to buy that kind of frame from a mattress store so of course I was very happy and thankful she offered this up!  Betsy, major Hammers and High Fives :)

My next salvage score had to do with our Hemnes dresser from Ikea along with...
... the coordinating Hemnes nightstands.  I had already mentioned this in our inspiration post, but I wanted to take off the hardware and update it with something a bit more antique looking in a gold finish.
I know some of you might think I am crazy, and no, I am not going to replace all the hardware in our house with gold & brass... that would be yucky.  But I am totally loving that formal/ antique feel you get when you use little touches of gold.  (Check out this link if you need to see what I am talking about).

Now, I was pretty sure I wouldn't find anything gold/ brass finish hardware that I liked at a basic home improvement store, it is pretty clear that everyone has moved away from that look.  So my next salvage stop was to head to Guilded Salvage where they have an amazing assortment of antique cabinet hardware.

The hard part was that I needed 12 or 14 of the same cabinet knob.  Not an easy task when the assortment comes in limited numbers, but I found what I needed in the "miscellaneous" bin!  I dug through and found 12 matching distressed gold knobs for the dresser and then another set of 2 for the nightstands!
(Sorry the photo is a bit blurry)
Since I dug them out of the "miscellaneous" bin, they were only 50 cents each!  So, for the 14 knobs I spent just over $9 with tax. Woo-hoo!

With those errands complete we are moving ahead with all the redo to-do's!
What do you think of my salvage scores?
Liking the new door style for the headboard?

Hope everyone has a lovely Valentine's Day tomorrow!
The hubby planned out something special for the day and I still have no idea what we are doing. I love surprises but they kind of drive me nuts because I hate secrets.  I just hope there is food involved, especially cheese and chocolate :) Cheers!

Head Over Heels Friday: SR Harris Fabric Outlet & A Fabric Find for the Master Bedroom

Kayd Roy3 Comments
I am so happy the weekend is here!  To be totally honest, this past week made me feel completely worn out.  Between work, the house projects, and thinking about the house projects, I may have finally hit a wall.  I told the hubby that I plan to sleep somewhere in the neighborhood of 10 to 14 hours (yep 14 hours) tonight to gather back my sanity. Hopefully my energy will be restored tomorrow so I can attack more to-do's for the Master Bedroom redo.  Thank you everyone who left suggestions for the headboard! It was so nice and helpful for me to read through them since it's been a tougher week.  Definitely made me smile!

Okay, now let's get to what I am Head Over Heels for this week!  Drumroll...

It's

Now, I am sorry to those of you that aren't local because you are going to be so jealous!  SR Harris is a fabric outlet in Brooklyn Park that sells exceptional fabrics at HUGELY discounted prices.  Everything you find is 50% off the tagged price and you can find just about any kind of fabric (seriously, check their list here).

I heard about SR Harris from a couple friends and they all said it was worth checking out.  I wanted to make my own window treatments for the Master Bedroom so I headed there in hopes of finding something fabulous.  When I walked in, this is what I saw...
OMG!!!! The place is HUGE!  I almost turned right around because I thought I would never find anything when there is so much to look through.  Sure enough, their website does say "30,000 sq ft warehouse".... guess I missed that part?
Anyway sorry the photos are bad, I took them on my cell phone. It didn't occur to me that a trip to a fabric store would end up photo-worthy but it was!  I know I have never seen a fabric store that large before.

After taking my dorky cell phone pictures as people gave me strange looks, I decided to go forward with this "treasure hunt" for the perfect curtain fabric for the Master Bedroom

Surprise! I found it!
(I'm sure you already knew since I am writing this post) I did indeed find something great, perfect, amazing for our Master Bedroom!  Take a close look...
It is a dark khaki/ camel color that has streaks/distressed gold metallic paint on it. It was totally unique and something I haven't seen in any store before.  I loved that it mixed a formal feel with a little bit of an edge.  Alex even totally loved it's fun unconventional look... but I think he liked the discounted price I got even better!  The original price was $10 per yard, with the 50% discount that brought it to just $5 per yard.  I needed 10 yards of fabric for the window treatments which totalled just $50.00!  That's the same cost of just 2 window panels from a store, and those would have only been able to cover 1 window.  Holla!!!

What do you think of the fabric for the Master Bedroom?
Anyone else get worn out by thinking about projects too much?

Well, I feel a bit more energized after writing up this post!  Or maybe I am just slap happy?!?  Either way I better rest up so I can get some work done and start sharing it!

The Door From Beneath the Stairs....

Kayd Roy18 Comments
It lurked beneath the stairs in our basement.  The space was cold and dark, and echoed an empty feeling from the 1920's. The last true sighting of it was June 5th, 2010 when this photo was taken...
It's..... THE DOOR! 'Dun, dun, duuuuuunnnnn'!!!!!!!

Okay, that's enough of the silly door drama.  As we mentioned in our plan for the Master Bedroom, we discovered an old door in our basement that is original to our house.  We thought it would be cool to turn into a headboard for our bed.  However, our plan was foiled last night after a sad discovery.

I had asked Alex to get that old door up from the basement so we could look at the work we needed to do on it. Alex's response was "Where is the door anyway?" That's when I realized it had really been a long time since either of us had laid eyes on it. At least I remembered it was still there under the stairs.

Alex crawled into the dark space behind the stairs and turned the door on it's side to get it out.  Once he got it into the light he yelled, "Nope, there's no way we are using this door for anything."
I thought 'oh he is just being picky or difficult'.  But once I got a good look at it I knew he was right.
"YUCK!"
It was sad. It really made me wonder how long the door was sitting down there under the stairs decaying?  10 years? 20? Maybe 40?  It was pretty gross and I bet it is covered in lead paint from the 1920's.  There is no way I would want to sleep near that.

With that dream dashed, we don't have a headboard idea ready to go anymore, booo!  Also, we sold our metal bedframe on Craigslist over the weekend so our mattress and boxspring (shown below) are just chilling on the floor. Rocco is the only one happy about that, the little pup can finally jump up onto the bed!
The bright side is we wanted to get rid of that bedframe anyway so that part isn't a bummer, but I thought we would have had the headboard ready to go.
Now that our options are open, what should we do for the headboard?

I would like to stick to something wood that is painted white.  We sold the metal bedframe for $90, so I can't justify spending more than that or I will feel foolish. And, as much as I would love to do one of those cute DIY tufted upholstered headboards, I'm not thinking that would look right with the fluffy white bedding we have in mind.

Do you still like the door repurposed as a headboard idea?
Should we hit up one of our favorite local architectural salvage spots for a similar door?
Or do you have a fun idea/ DIY suggestion?
We're all ears, please let us know!

Red + Navy + Gold + Bitter Chocolate = Master Bedroom (x 1,000 More Fabulous)

Kayd Roy7 Comments
Now that we've shared our new Master Bedroom paint color, it's time to clue you in to our design scheme!

Ready for... Bitter Chocolate with gold, bright red, and navy blue!?!
It does sound crazy, BUT, how cute does this look?
It is funny, if anyone said to me "How about a dark brown with gold, bright red, and navy blue accents?" I would have thought it sounded awful.  But I can't think of anything more different and perfect for the room my husband and I share!
Here's our blank slate...
The whole idea started from an article in House Beautiful. They used the "simplicity of blues" with dark brown paneled walls. The image that struck me the most was the brown + geranium red photo at the bottom right.
House Beautiful
After seeing that, I found more images of dark browns with pops of red or navy blue...

The Sweet Look of Bitter Chocolate... Paint Afters!

Kayd Roy12 Comments
The master bedroom has finally been painted!!!  Goodbye forever green!

Here are a couple 'before' and 'after' photos of our paint selection.  Sorry the 'afters' are a little dark, we finished up yesterday as the sun went down (in case you are worried, just know we didn't paint it black).

The color we chose was Behr's Bitter Chocolate from Home Depot. It is a very dark brown with a hint of a warm redish tone when light hits it.  I'm so much happier with our room in this color, it is just more "us" than that pale green ever was. I have to give my hubby props for sticking to his guns about the color.  I was leaning toward a dark gray (similar to three other rooms in the house) and he kept pushing for something that was more brown based.  Once we got a sample up on the wall, I was sold... Here you go Alex, "You were right honey, Bitter Chocolate is perfect."
Oddly enough, the prep time took longer than actually painting.  Does that happen to anyone else?  Our project started on Saturday night. We had a whole lot of patching to do on the walls.  The worst was the wall shown below.  It had some terrible plaster wall repair done by a previous owner at some point.  The repair consisted of some dry wall tape and a MOUND of plaster covering a giant settlement crack that Alex needed to correct.  He just kept sanding, and sanding, and sanding.  That small spot just kept getting bigger and bigger.
After working on that wall, Alex hopped over to a very long settlement crack that hadn't been patched previously.  He opened the crack with a hammer and screw driver and then....
Added on some Dap Dry Dex patch.
Once the patch dried and hardened, Alex sanded them to a smooth even finish.  Then we were ready to paint!!!!  Woo-hoo!!!

That took us to the next morning.
We got up bright and early, did a bit of cleaning and poured the paint!  Alex captured my excitement as the first bit of Bitter Chocolate went up on the walls.
Then, the rest of the paint project went pretty fast...
We ended up painting this little archway Behr's Polar Bear (white) to add some dimension.  I think it was a good choice to enhance the architectural detail of our room.
Again, here are some 'afters', but I think you can get a better idea of the color from the daytime photos above (and yes, the blue painters tape is still up in these photos).
I'm totally LOVING it!!!!
I can't wait to start decorating.  I've been eager to attack this room redo for soooo long!  I mentioned it on May 8th, 2011 when it was supposed to be our next project... then the tornado happened and ruined that plan.  I have a lot of fabulous plans for this room (since I've been thinking about it for a year) and I can't wait to share my design plan/ vision soon! That Bitter Chocolate is going to be a fab back drop for what we have in store!
  Stay tuned...

Goldilocks and the Three Behrs

Kayd Roy2 Comments
There once lived a girl with golden locks who was very fond of home decor.  She often spent her time dreaming up ways to make her living spaces more beautiful.
One day, she walked and walked until she found a big orange building. There, she was given three little Behrs of inspiration.
She brought the Behrs home in hopes of finding the right fit for her and her husband's sleeping quarters.  Each little Behr settled in to what they hoped would be their new home.
Then, after reviewing three little Behrs in different lighting she began to realize something about each one.
The first Behr was too green-y
The second Behr was too brownish.
The third Behr was too black, like straight colorless black.

None of the Behrs were quite right. So the girl with the gold locks wandered back to the big orange building in hopes of finding a Behr that was just right.

The End To Be Continued

***************************
Okay, we're still working on the Nook, but we've also been trying to narrow down a paint color for our Master Bedroom. I think we have been trying to pick a color for a year now, I might even think about it in my sleep. I guess we'll see if we can make a final decision soon, at least we agreed on a direction to head in!

Also, to write this post I had to re-read the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears.  After refreshing my memory on the details of the story, it made me think about how rude and crazy Goldilocks was.  I mean, really, who breaks into someone's house, eats their food, breaks their furniture, and then passes out in a strangers bed?!?  Goldilocks was one crazy stupid lady.
Have a great week everyone!  I'll be posting follow ups for these projects and more soon!
